Grasshopper more real than nature !?
Finally you can observe them – for real! Or almost…
On Saturday 10 September, the coordinator of the LIFE SOS Crau Grasshopper programme – Lisbeth Zechner – took advantage of an original setting to honour our Crau Plain Grasshopper: the Marathon des châteaux du Médoc.

Known internationally, the Médoc Marathon is famous for its festive atmosphere. The majority of the marathoners are… dressed up!
The circuit crosses vineyards and gardens of many prestigious châteaux of the Pauillac, Saint-Julien, Saint-Estèphe, Médoc and Haut-Médoc appellations… over 42 km. The race is accompanied by 55 events and tasting points, including twenty or so with great wines!
Key figures of the 2022 edition:
More than 8500 runners in fancy dress from 79 different nationalities set off from Pauillac on 10 September, including two “Crau Plain Grasshoppers” with masks created by Anne Lise Koehler as part of the LIFE project.
The event gave us the opportunity to present the Crau Plain Grasshopper and to distribute stickers and bookmarks to spectators at the roadside… to talk to other participants during tastings.
An original way to present this unique grasshopper as well as the LIFE project to save it to the sporting world !
Finally you can observe them – for real! Or almost…
This spring, our team has prepared a whole programme to discover the Crau Plain Grasshopper
The first hatchings of Crau Plain Grasshopper in 2023 took place at the beginning of April and observations of the first juveniles are multiplying by the day!
