First of all, it was essential to choose a suitable location. The aviary was built with solid, secure materials to prevent the grasshoppers from escaping and predators from entering, but above all to withstand the bad weather and the 100 days of Mistral wind each year in the Crau.

Insect-proof netting and wire netting have been installed to prevent the grasshoppers from dispersing into the surrounding environment, enabling the residents to be monitored more effectively.

Identical in design to our partner, the Parc animalier de la Barben, which had a higher juvenile survival rate than our aviaries, this steel titan has already housed the egg pods and a number of juveniles from the other aviaries, including Primo, which you already know.

We would like to thank our financial partners, and in particular AXA, whose donation enabled us to fully finance the creation of this aviary, which is essential to the successful conservation of this endemic Crau species.
